ABOUT THE BRAND
Founded in 1987 by Finnish textile artist Ritva Puotila and her son Mikko Puotila, Woodnotes pioneered the use of paper yarn in modern utility textiles—a first in the world. Based in Helsinki, the company remains fully family-owned. Its beginnings emerged from Ritva’s artistic experiments with paper-based materials showcased in a 1985 gallery exhibition, which soon evolved into industrial-scale woven products thanks to collaboration with a weaving mill in Kauhajärvi.
