Deanna Comellini
G.T.Design Founder & Director

Some interior decisions start with a conversation about material, colour and scale. That's how we think about working with G.T.DESIGN — the Italian rug maker founded by Deanna Comellini in 1977.

We turn to G.T.DESIGN when a rug needs to do more than complete a room: its texture can bring depth to a calm interior, its colour can connect different materials, and its proportions can help define how a space is used.

This page is our take on the company — the collections we return to, the people behind them, and how we work together on a project.

The people behind the collaboration
A working relationship like this is built in conversations about a new material, a collection, the right solution for a customer. Our meetings with Deanna Comellini and her team, represented on our side by Anna Bakhmetova, are where we get to exchange ideas directly and understand how a complete solution comes together.

That dialogue is what connects the design intent of a piece with the practical decisions behind a specification and gives us a reason to keep exploring new ideas together as both our projects and their collections evolve.
Material first
G.T.DESIGN's work sits between textile research, traditional technique and contemporary design starting from expressive, light-catching surfaces to natural fibres with hand-finished detail.

What interests us is how that plays into a room as a whole. A rug isn't just colour and texture on the floor, it talks to the furniture, the flooring, the light, the proportions of the space. That's the relationship we think about when specifying a piece for a project.
The collections we keep coming back to
The right one depends on the room, its use, the light — and your own style.
  • Hand-woven in viscose, 15 mm. Its surface shifts with the angle and intensity of light — our pick when a room needs something more luminous and expressive.
  • Bamboo-based viscose, 8 mm. A subtle sheen, a lighter presence. Works where a rug should soften a room and catch light without taking it over.
  • Hand-woven coconut fibre, 10 mm. Distinctive, natural texture; G.T.DESIGN positions it for higher-traffic interiors and covered outdoor spaces. Suitability depends on the specific model and conditions of use.
  • Hand-woven wool, hand-painted in Italy, 5 mm, custom sizes on request. Modular sections and hand-stitched detail give it an individual, almost painterly character.
Made to measure
A room's proportions and palette sometimes call for more than a standard size. G.T.DESIGN offers custom options on selected collections, depending on the model and technical requirements — dimensions, shapes where available, colour combinations, finishing details like borders or stitching, and how the rug sits within the room.
We confirm specifications and production details with the G.T.DESIGN team before any order is placed.
How we work together
Every project is different; we confirm scope, timing and delivery before anything is ordered.
  • The brief:
room, dimensions, use, the role the rug should play
  • Collection and material:
matching texture, colour and finish to the project's palette and practical needs.
